Hearing & Heeding Your Hunger(s) Diet Liberation Course

A new 15 week course begins soon

 Course includes: indivdual assessment, 3 psychoeducation group meetings and 1 individual psychoeducation meeting each month, a self hypnosis tape or CD, and a mindful eating tape or CD.  Course books are extra, but offerred at a discount.

 Fees: $50 per week (with a commitment for the 15 weeks) 

 Insurance:  Some insurance companies may cover some or all of the costs.  You will need to meet their diagnostic requirements and show medical necessity .  In this case, you will not be eligible for the above discounts as their fees are already discounted.

You are not alone.  A recent American Psychologist study showed that more than two thirds of those who dieted put the weight back on plus more.  The study's conclusion was that if you want to GAIN wieght, go on a diet!

Eating is a fundamental need and your body can tell you what it needs, when it needs it and how much it needs.  The issue for most people is that they have let others tell them what, when and how much to eat.  They ignore or reject their own body's signals.

Diets teach you to ignore and disregard your body's signals.  When you do this chronically you begin to disregard other signals, including your intuition, your innate problem solving skills and your emotions. This means you look outside yourself more and more for comfort, coping and "the answers". 

The Diet Liberation program teaches you to pay attention to your body's signals, address emotional eating, cope without using food, and stop the deprivation cycle of eating.

The implications go far beyond weight management.  You will begin to trust yourself again, paying attention to what you need.

The First Step is to start paying attention to your body's signals — something you probably stopped doing because it is fundamental to dieting.  Every diet tells you to disregard, ignore, overcome or get control of your body.  However your body is the only thing that can actually tell you what you need, when and how much.  START LISTENING.

Start paying attention to when you are hungry and when you are satisfied.

Allow yourself to eat what you want (without restriction), using the following 3 guidelines.

  1.  Eat only when you are physically hungry.
  2.  Stop when you are physically satisfied.
  3.  Eat with complete attention paid to eating.  This means no eating in the car or in front of the television, or anywhere else that distracts you from fully attending to eating.

This first step may take some time to master, especially if you have been a chronic dieter.  It is the most important step, so give yourself the time it takes.
